Fiberglass Mesh Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the "Tex" unit mentioned in the yarn specifications

Tex is a linear mass density unit indicating weight in grams per 1000 meters of yarn. Simply put, a higher Tex number means a thicker, stronger yarn. For example, a 200tex yarn is significantly stronger than a 45tex yarn

What is the main difference between a plain weave (e.g., RD Series) and a Leno weave (e.g., CAL Series)

In a plain weave, warp and weft yarns simply pass over and under each other. In a Leno weave, two or more warp yarns are twisted around the weft yarns, locking them in place. This creates exceptional dimensional stability and prevents mesh opening and yarn drifting under stress or during mortar application.

How is tensile strength measured, and what does N/5cm mean

According to standard methods, a strip of mesh 5 centimeters wide and of sufficient length (typically 20cm) is placed in a tension testing machine. The maximum force (in Newtons) the sample withstands before failure is reported as the tensile strength. Therefore, a value of 1500 N/5cm means a 5cm wide strip of that mesh can withstand at least 1500 Newtons of force.

Are these products suitable for use in concrete and alkaline environments

Yes, all products in this catalog can be manufactured with a special Alkali Resistant (AR) coating. This zirconia-based coating protects the glass fibers from the high pH of the cementitious matrix, guaranteeing long-term durability. Please specify this requirement when ordering.

Is production with special specifications or different colors possible

Absolutely. One of the strengths of Atlas GROUP is our flexibility in manufacturing based on customer order. Changes in roll width, weight, mesh size, coating resin type, and coloration (white, yellow, blue, green, etc.) are fully possible. Contact our sales engineering team

Q&S Stone

What distinguishes Travertine from Marble

Travertine is a porous sedimentary stone, while marble is a dense metamorphic rock. Travertine offers warmer tones and better slip resistance

What is the optimal cleaning method

Use pH-neutral stone cleaners (pH 7-8) with immediate drying of wet surfaces.

Is it suitable for commercial kitchens

Yes, with leathered finish and nano-sealer for grease and stain resistance

What is the best type of Marmarite for kitchens

Low-porosity Marmarite like Dehbid with leathered finish and nano-sealer

Is Marmarite suitable for bathrooms

Yes, with proper selection of low-porosity type, appropriate sealer, and correct maintenance

What is the difference between Marmarite and marble

Marmarite has lower metamorphic grade, lower price, and greater color variety

How to remove oil stains from Marmarite

Use specialized stone cleaners + baking soda paste

Is limestone suitable for kitchens

Yes, with selection of low-porosity type, leathered or honed finish, and nano anti-grease sealer

What is the difference between limestone and marble

Limestone is primary sedimentary stone; marble is metamorphosed limestone. Marble is harder and less porous

How to prevent limestone discoloration in exterior spaces

Use UV-Resistant sealers and stones with high calcium carbonate percentage

What is the minimum thickness for commercial flooring

3 cm for light traffic, 4 cm for heavy traffic.

What is the best adhesive for limestone installation

White polymer adhesive with minimum 2 MPa tensile strength

What should be the expansion joint spacing

One 10 mm expansion joint with elastic material every 10 meters
